I wrote a post for Daily Nous on a math & arts course I taught last spring at SFSU.
I just signed a book contract with Routledge, along with Isabelle Peschard and Christopher Wessels (SFSU) to work on a textbook on the philosophy of risk! Anticipated publication in 2021.
It will cover such topics as the formalism of decision making under risk or uncertainty, the nature of risk as a dual objective/subjective concept, and the ethics of risk assessment and management (what responsibility for scientists, precautionary principles, ethical issues in climate change communication, etc.). Examples will focus mainly on environmental risk, but also on medical risk, existential risk, risks with emerging technologies…
